Abstract

Objective: To observe the effect of Kidney Yin-Yang replenishing Chinese herbs on the binding character of insulin receptor (IR) on hepatocyte membrane from androgen-induced sterility rats (ASR).

Methods: The number and affinity of IR on hepatocyte membrane of ASR were determined with radioligand binding assay.

Results: There was no significant difference of the number or affinity for both high and low affinity sites of IR between normal and ASR.

Conclusion: The treatment with Kidney Yin-Yang replenishing Chinese herbs had no effect on insulin binding although a relatively high rate of ovulation induction on ASR was observed.
