Abstract

This review aims at describing the influence of established and not yet sufficiently characterized parameters on the prognosis of thyroid follicle cell carcinomas. The analysis of literature data covers a broad spectrum of pathologic and biologic factors from classical prognostic features like age, gender and tumor stage to mutation, activation or, where applicable, inactivation of tumor suppressor genes, metastasis-related genes and adhesion molecules.
