Abstract

The results of an epidemiological study of chronic bronchitis are examined with particular regard to the influence of occupational environment on the disease. The damaging effect of organic and inorganic dusts, because of the irritation they cause and the possibility of allergic sensitization, is pointed out. The importance of smoking in the onset and development of chronic bronchitis is also stressed.
