Sexual function in the perimenopause

Obstet Gynecol Clin North Am. 1993 Jun;20(2):379-89.

Abstract

Proper medical supervision and care, especially the prescribing of appropriate pharmacologic therapy, combined with factual information, supportive guidance, and sympathetic counseling will ameliorate or enhance sexual function in most perimenopausal women. The preventive steps taken during the midlife years will help build a solid foundation to ensure continued sexual activity and enjoyment for couples that extends into the menopausal, postmenopausal, and geriatric years.
