South Med J. 1993 Nov;86(11):1309-10. doi: 10.1097/00007611-199311000-00031.

Abstract

I have described a 17-year-old adolescent in whom retroperitoneal fibrosis was the initial manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus. She had thrombosis of the inferior vena cava during the course of her illness. Standard treatment with corticosteroids resulted in apparent resolution of this complication.
