Use of PTFE tape--a hazard for smokers?

Occup Med (Lond). 1994 May;44(2):105-6. doi: 10.1093/occmed/44.2.105.

Abstract

Although smoking cigarettes contaminated with PTFE is a well-known cause of polymer fume fever, the use of PTFE tape is seen as safe even in smokers. We report a case of polymer fume fever in a fitter using threadseal tape who rolled his own cigarettes.
