Step by step to a decision. Using an algorithm to help staff choose special beds

Prof Nurse. 1995 Mar;10(6):375-8.

Abstract

1. Pressure sores result in increases in length of hospital stay and patient pain and predisposition to systemic illness. 2. Most hospital-acquired pressure sores can be prevented if health authorities implement appropriate strategies. 3. The development and implementation of an algorithm can result in a more objective and appropriate use of special beds and a reduction in bed hire costs.
