S Afr Med J. 1980 Oct 25;58(17):695-6.

Abstract

Supervised intermittent ambulant therapy for tuberculosis is recognized as a method with numerous advantages. It has been used successfully in urban situations world wide, but has been more difficult to organize satisfactorily in rural areas. The system currently in use at Charles Johnson Memorial Hospital in the heart of rural KwaZulu is outlined and our figures over the last 3 years are reported.
