Control of the proximal segment by lower border wiring in the sagittal split osteotomy

J Maxillofac Surg. 1981 May;9(2):126-8. doi: 10.1016/s0301-0503(81)80029-x.

Abstract

Modifications of the sagittal split osteotomy have been advanced to help improve the procedure. Control of the proximal segment of the split has always been of concern. A lower border wiring technique is presented as a means of stabilizing the proximal segment in its natural pre-operative position.
