Demonstration of portosystemic shunts by radionuclide venogram

South Med J. 1983 Jul;76(7):934-5. doi: 10.1097/00007611-198307000-00035.

Abstract

In two patients with inferior vena caval obstruction, radionuclide venography using 99mTc-macroaggregated albumin demonstrated diffuse radioactivity in the liver, indicating portosystemic shunts. Follow-up venography after anticoagulation therapy showed disappearance of the hepatic activity in one patient.
