Indospicine--the teratogenic factor from Indigofera spicata extract causing cleft palate

Br J Exp Pathol. 1970 Feb;51(1):34-6.

Abstract

The amidine-containing amino acid, indospicine, has been shown to be the teratogenic principle in the crude Indigofera spicata extract which causes cleft palate in foetal rats exposed to it on Day 13 of gestation. Possible implications of its chemical structure are discussed.
