Abstract

Chakrabarty et al.¹ demonstrate that phospho-EIF2α (pEIF2α), the translation initiation factor that mediates the integrated stress response (ISR), is necessary and sufficient for the autophagic degradation of mitochondria following the addition of mitochondrial stressors.
