Cracking cancer with engineered skin commensals

Cell Host Microbe. 2023 Jun 14;31(6):919-920. doi: 10.1016/j.chom.2023.05.023.

Abstract

The use of bacterial colonists as therapy carriers is gaining interest for treating cancer. In a recent publication in Science, the work by Chen et al. proposes the engineering of a commensal bacterium of the human skin microbiota to cross-present tumor antigens to T cells and counteract tumor progression.
