Clin Nucl Med. 2023 Apr 1;48(4):e167-e169. doi: 10.1097/RLU.0000000000004531. Epub 2023 Jan 12.

Abstract

Penicilliosis marneffei is an extremely rare fungal infectious disease and is especially rare in people with normal immunity. Penicilliosis marneffei restricted to the lung and involving the formation of a pulmonary tumor is difficult to distinguish from peripheral lung cancer. This kind of case has rarely been reported. We report the case of a 53-year-old man with penicilliosis marneffei misdiagnosed as lung cancer by 18 F-FDG PET/CT.
