Abstract

Cells must avoid licensing of neosynthesized DNA to prevent rereplication. In this issue of Molecular Cell, Ratnayeke et al. (2022)¹ reveal how the licensing factor CDT1, prior to its degradation, inhibits DNA elongation by suppressing CMG helicase progression at replication forks.
