Predictors of treatment outcome for alcoholic women

Int J Addict. 1987 Mar;22(3):235-48. doi: 10.3109/10826088709027427.

Abstract

This study explores the prognostic indicators of treatment outcome of alcoholic women. Comparatively little research has been conducted which examines the possible influence of social variables in recovery. This follow-up study of 93 alcoholic women found that the number of life problems in addition to alcoholism and the number of primary supportive relationships of the women were significant predictors of treatment outcome. A total of 55.9% of the sample were sober 1 year after treatment.
