Abstract

Background: Many flies have specially evolved feeding mechanisms to imbibe liquids of specific viscosities. Observations of feeding on atypical liquids are notable because of their rarity.

New information: We report the first record of intrusive fluid feeding on vertebrate carrion by Philolicherondani.
