Abstract

Sudden loss of smell is a very common symptom that can be observed in two-thirds of patients with Covid-19, and may be the only symptom of this disease. A study has demonstrated that 80% of infected patients have sudden loss of smell without nasal obstruction. This suggests that anomalies of the olfactory epithelium are a key element of pathogenesis and local involvement. Management of odor disorders related to Covid-19 is still being debated.
