The loopy world of cohesin

Elife. 2021 Jul 26:10:e71585. doi: 10.7554/eLife.71585.

Abstract

DNA loops can be formed by a mechanism in which the cohesin complex pulls DNA strands through its ring structure using biased Brownian motion.

Keywords: DNA loop extrusion; S. cerevisiae; S. pombe; biophysical simulation; chromosomes; cohesin; computational biology; gene expression; human; sister chromatid cohesion; smc complexes; structural biology; systems biology.
