Urbach and Wiethe first described lipoid Proteinosis (LP) (hyalinosis cutis et mucosae) in 1929. LP is a rare genodermatosis characterized by the deposition of hyaline-like material in various tissues and organs. LP is associated with a variety of characteristic cutaneous and mucosal findings and several neurologic, psychiatric, and gastrointestinal manifestations.
