Blood Purif. 2021;50(3):290-297. doi: 10.1159/000510983. Epub 2020 Oct 22.

Abstract

The principles and use of plasmapheresis are often little understood by intensivists. We propose to review the principles, the main indications, and the methods of using this technique.

Keywords: Acute liver failure; Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis; Guillain-Barré syndrome; Therapeutic plasma exchange; Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura.
