Low-grade mucinous tumors (MT) of the appendix are rare malignancies. One of the most formidable complications of these tumors is mucin depositing in the peritoneum with development of peritoneal pseudomyxoma. Currently, there are no single clinical - pathomorphological classification and treatment approach to these tumors. This situation is complicated by the fact that tumor of the appendix cannot be preoperatively suspected in many cases and MT is detected after appendectomy for acute appendicitis or its complications. Thus, prognosis of patients is deteriorated.
Муцинозные опухоли (МО) червеобразного отростка низкой степени злокачественности — редкие злокачественные образования. Одним из самых грозных осложнений таких опухолей является отсев муцина на брюшину с развитием псевдомиксомы брюшины. В настоящее время отсутствуют единые клинико-патоморфологическая классификация и подход в лечении пациентов с МО. Осложняет ситуацию то, что во многих случаях заподозрить опухоль червеобразного отростка перед операцией не всегда возможно и МО обнаруживают после выполнения аппендэктомии по поводу острого аппендицита или его осложнений, что ухудшает прогнозы пациента.
