SPECT/CT Demonstrating 131I Accumulation in Gallbladder Stone in a Thyroid Cancer Patient

Clin Nucl Med. 2020 Mar;45(3):244-245. doi: 10.1097/RLU.0000000000002875.

Abstract

The radioiodine in the gallbladder usually mimics focal hepatic activity on the planar I whole-body scintigraphy. Here we describe an abnormal uptake in the hepatic region on postablative I scintigraphy in a 37-year-old woman with papillary thyroid cancer. The SPECT/CT images revealed this "hepatic activity" corresponded to gallbladder stone.
