Editorial Commentary: Arthroscopic Simulators-Are We There Yet?

Arthroscopy. 2019 Aug;35(8):2391-2393. doi: 10.1016/j.arthro.2019.04.025.

Abstract

Simulation training remains a hot topic in surgical education and, in particular, arthroscopic surgery. There are many challenges associated with simulation training, including cost, validity, and reliability of simulator models, as well as the ability to transfer knowledge and/or skills learned to the actual operating room, among others. The pace at which simulator technology is expanding is rapid and requires educators to evaluate each new model with respect to face and construct validity, as well as educational value and user-friendliness.
