Grants and funding

The initial funding of the gender-based violence and recovery centre at Coast Provincial General Hospital was provided by Danida (Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs development assistance) and the Ministry of Health in Kenya. The centre receives continued support from the International Centre for Reproductive Health (ICRH) Kenya, which has provided all the nonclinical staff for follow-up and paralegal assistance. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and private donors from Belgium also support the centre. ICRH at Ghent University made a payment to one of the authors (MM) to develop and edit the manuscript but had no role in the manuscript. The funders had no role in study design, data collection and analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the manuscript.
