With increasing availability of newer-generation drugs and a broad spectrum of antibiotic effectiveness, the role of fluoroquinolones in urinary tract infection (UTI) treatment may have changed. The purpose of this review is to examine the clinical effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and evidence-based guidelines regarding the use of fluoroquinolones for the treatment of UTIs.
