Proportionate and scientifically sound risk assessment of gene-edited plants

EMBO Rep. 2018 Oct;19(10):e46907. doi: 10.15252/embr.201846907. Epub 2018 Sep 5.

Abstract

The European Court of Justice's decision that gene editing should be regulated as genetic modification has wide implications for plant science and agriculture. However, the original EU legislation for environmental releases of GMOs already allows for more flexibility to regulate gene‐edited plants.
