Mesenteric Malperfusion: The Insidious, Dreadful Enemy

Semin Thorac Cardiovasc Surg. 2017 Summer;29(2):179-180. doi: 10.1053/j.semtcvs.2017.02.009. Epub 2017 Feb 27.

Abstract

Mesenteric malperfusion is associated with a poor prognosis. Stent grafting to treat acute type B dissection with malperfusion has been widely accepted. The standard approach for acute type A dissection is central repair. However, mesenteric ischemia may continue to deteriorate. Can an algorithm with fenestration first approach improve the outcomes?
