Nutrient uptake by a diverse spring ephemeral community

Oecologia. 1980 Jan;47(1):96-98. doi: 10.1007/BF00541781.

Abstract

Net production by the six most abundant species in a diverse spring ephemeral community was 66.8 g/m2, and net uptake of nitrogen and potassium were 5.5 and 4.5 kg/ha respectively. These uptake rates are relatively large compared to those reported previously and to other fluxes of these nutrients in the site.
