Abstract

With an incidence of 5.6 / 100000, tuberculosis remains rare in Germany. However, for the first time since over 60 years, case numbers have began to increase since 2013. Therefore, knowledge of the clinical presentation as well as diagnostic and therapeutic approaches is important, specifically when caring for migrant patients. The broad use of molecular analyses will soon facilitate the choice of therapeutic regimens. Novel drugs already enable us to successfully treat also the increasing numbers of drug-resistant tuberculosis cases.
