Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this project was to develop a user-centered web-portal for empowerment in mental disorders.

Methods: The development of the portal included mixed-methods techniques for needs assessment to identify user-relevant content. Exposure and use of the portal was investigated as part of a process evaluation.

Results: psychenet.de informs about mental disorders and treatment option. Results of the process evaluation showed a highly accessed website, the portal was assessed as "good" or "very good" by 73 % of the respondents.

Discussion: Using psychenet.de attempts to raise awareness, to inform about mental disorders, and to engage patients in the course of their treatment.
