Background: Thousands of healthcare mobile applications (apps) are available, and physicians are increasingly recognizing that mobile technology can improve their workflow and allow them to practice medicine in a better and/or more efficient manner.
Methods: This article highlights apps compatible with the iPhone and iPad and their utility to the busy orthopedic surgeon.
Results: Currently available apps address every aspect of healthcare: patient management, reference, education, and research.
Conclusion: Key aspects of helpful apps include low cost (preferably free), a user-friendly interface, and simplicity.
