Abstract

The complete mitochondrial DNA genome of the grey-headed lapwing, Vanellus cinereus, was sequenced by the polymerase chain reaction method. The circular mitogenome (17,074 bp in length) contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and a control region. The base composition is as follow: A (31.6%), T (23.5%), C (31.1%) and G (13.8%), and the A + T content of the overall base composition of H-strand is 55.1%. The non-coding region (control region) is 1503 bp in length with the A + T content of 57.5%.

Keywords: Charadriidae; Vanellus cinereus; mitochondrial genome.
