Imaging of musculoskeletal disorders related to pregnancy

Abstract

Objective: This article provides an overview of the typical appearance of biomechanical and physiologic changes in pregnancy and an update on related pathophysiology. Conditions occurring during the childbearing, delivery and postpartum periods will be reported separately.

Conclusion: Pregnancy causes biomechanical and physiologic changes that may be responsible for a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal disorders in the mother.
