Abstract

In the Netherlands, the gynaecology training programme has undergone major changes in recent decades. This article describes how strategic planning has contributed to a future-proof training programme. The workplace is still the main training platform; it is however being used more effectively by placing the focus on medical as well as generic competencies, by making the hidden curriculum visible and by reappraising good role models. In order to prepare the future gynaecologist well, a quality cycle is needed that continuously evaluates learning goals and instructional methods.
