Abstract

Objective: Comparing the difference between the effect of comprehensive treatment and that of radiotherapy only in laryngopharyngeal carcinoma cases.

Method: Analyzing clinical data of 68 cases of laryngopharyngeal carcinoma treated in our department from June 2003 to December 2009. Among them, 40 cases were treated by comprehensive treatment of surgery combined with radiotherapy (group A), 28 cases by radiotherapy only (group B).

Result: The three-year survival rate of group A and B were 75.6% (31/41) and 26.7% (4/15), respectively, and the five-year survival rate of the two groups were 56.1% (23/41) and 13.3% (2/15), respectively.

Conclusion: For laryngopharyngeal carcinoma cases, the therapeutic effect of comprehensive treatment was much better than that of the radiotherapy only, not only could improve the survival rate, but also could make the life quality after treatment better.
