Amylase activity of 30 strains of Staphylococcus spp. was determined by Tryptic Soy Agar on supplemented with 1.0% starch as the substrate. After incubation (time incubation 24 h or 168 h), the plates were flooded with Lugol solution. A clear zone around the colonies indicated amylase activity. The 23 (76.7%) strains CNS demonstrated the amylase activity. It was observed that 17 (80.9%) strains of S. epidermidis, and 6 (66.7%) strains non-S. epidermidis, starch hydrolyzed.
