[Isolation and identification of brominated alkaloids from the sponge Ircinia sp]

Abstract

Objective: To study the alkaloids from sponge Ircinia sp..

Methods: The alkaloids were isolated and purified by various chromatographic techniques, and their structures were elucidated by physicochemical and spectral data.

Results: Five alkaloids were isolated and identified as fistularin-1 (1), fistularin-3 (2), aerothionin (3), 11 -hydroxyaerothionin (4), suberamolline A (5).

Conclusion: All the alkaloids are isolated from Ircinia sp. for the first time.
