Metastatic basal cell carcinoma of the vulva

Gynecol Oncol. 1990 Jul;38(1):138-40. doi: 10.1016/0090-8258(90)90027-i.

Abstract

Basal cell carcinoma of the vulva is rare and was initially thought to be nonmetastasizing; however, there are four reports in the literature of metastasis to regional lymph nodes. We present the case report of a fifth patient with well-documented metastasizing basal cell carcinoma of the vulva with a brief discussion on clinical presentation, treatment, and positive response to preoperative radiation which could make radical surgery unnecessary.
