The title compound, C(18)H(20)O(3), a hemisynthetic product, was obtained by the reaction of benzoyl chloride and p-methoxy-thymol. The structure comprises two benzene rings bridged by a carboxyl group; the dihedral angle between the rings is 73.54 (8)°.
