Trans-apical aortic valve implantation in a patient with stentless valve degeneration

Eur J Cardiothorac Surg. 2011 Jun;39(6):1051-3. doi: 10.1016/j.ejcts.2010.11.013. Epub 2010 Dec 16.

Abstract

Trans-apical valve-in-valve trans-catheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has successfully been performed in selected, high-risk patients, who suffered prosthetic degeneration after aortic valve replacement using stented xenografts. We report the case of a 79-year-old male patient who underwent one of the first successful TAVIs in a failing stentless bioprosthesis.
