Abstract

Aim: To study the genetic polymorphisms of IL-6 gene promoter-572C/G in Han population with cerebral infarction of Tangshan area.

Methods: The IL-6 gene promoter-572C/G polymorphism were detected by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis among 157 cases with cerebral infarction.

Results: In Hans population with cerebral infarction and healthy controls, the frequencies of C allele was higher than that of G allele. The genotype distribution of IL-6 gene promoter-572C/G fitted Hardy-Weinberg balance. The distributions of genotype and alleles were not different between female and male.

Conclusion: The IL-6 gene site exists -572C/G polymorphism among Han population with cerebral infarction of Tangshan area. C allele is common gene and G allele rare gene.
