Abstract

Objective: To make a systematic review of risk factors associated with motor complications in Parkinson's disease (PD).

Methods: Medline, EMbase and Cochrane Database were used to search for prospective and retrospective studies on the factors associated with dyskinesia and motor fluctuations. Methodological quality was checked by two independent reviewers.

Results: Earlier age at onset, female gender and a long disease duration might be the risk factors of motor complications.

Conclusion: More high-quality clinical trials are required to evaluate the factors associated with motor complications.
