[Rupture of the excretory tract to renal cyst, its sequestration and later infection, as a complication of ureteral lithiasis]

Abstract

We report on a case of infected solitary renal cyst following rupture and communication of the excretory tract from a ureteral calculus. The etiopathogenic mechanisms, the diagnostic difficulties encountered in this uncommon disease process, and the usefulness of radiologic and ultrasound assessment are discussed.
