Abstract

Dr. Manfred Schartl is Professor in the Department of Physiological Chemistry at the Biocenter of the University of Würzburg, Germany and Adjunct Professor for Experimental Cancer Research at the University of Bergen, Norway. He pursued undergraduate studies in biology and graduate work at the University of Giebetaen, Germany. Dr. Schartl participated in postdoctoral research at the University of Giebetaen and in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Gallo at the National Cancer Institute, NIH. Thereafter, he was group leader at the Gene Center at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biochemistry in Martinsried/Munich. He is Chairman of the Theodor-Boveri-Institute for Biosciences in Würzburg. Dr. Schartl is Associate Editor of Gene, and he is a member of the Editorial Board of Zebrafish.
