In silico biology: from simulation to understanding

Curr Biol. 2007 Feb 20;17(4):R132-4. doi: 10.1016/j.cub.2006.12.034.

Abstract

Mathematical modelling is feasible only if the biological system under consideration meets certain criteria--if they are met, a comprehensive quantitative approach not only yields information about the dynamics of intracellular processes but eventually allows for the prediction of population behaviour from molecular interactions.
