Abstract

Medical journalist Joy Persaud was shocked by the poor treatment her elderly father received when he was taken to his local hospital with a suspected stroke. Some nurses were indifferent, the ward was filthy and care seemed completely lacking. After she wrote an article for a national newspaper the hospital took action, which included cutting down on agency staff.
