A unique novel oxacarbaborane was prepared by a controlled attack of closo-1,2-C2B8H10 on Bu4NOH and its molecular geometry was derived on the basis of the well-established ab initio/GIAO/NMR method, GIAO-MP2/II//MP2/6-31G* and experimental 11B chemical shifts showing an excellent agreement.
