Atrial fibrillation in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: another indication for circumferential pulmonary vein ablation?

Acta Cardiol. 2006 Apr;61(2):193-6. doi: 10.2143/AC.61.2.2014334.

Abstract

Atrial fibrillation is often highly symptomatic in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. In the present paper we describe the results of circumferential pulmonary vein ablation in two such patients. Although multiple antiarrhythmic drugs failed to prevent recurrences of AF in each patient, catheter ablation resulted in long-term maintenance of sinus rhythm and stabilization of heart failure.
