The results of treatment of 330 patients with complicated diseases and traumas of the colon were analyzed. The treatment included primary resection of the colon with the formation of separate double-trunked (220 patients) and single-trunked (110 patients) colostomies. Postoperative complications were noted in 26.4% of cases. The formation of separate double-trunked colostomies allowed facilitation of surgical rehabilitation of the colostomy patients. The technical elements of formation of separate double-trunked colostomies after resection of the colon are described.
